Shooting has been one of India’s most successful Olympic sports. Abhinav Bindra won India’s first individual Olympic gold in the 10m air rifle at Beijing 2008. At Paris 2024, Manu Bhaker won two bronze medals, becoming the first Indian after Independence to win two medals at a single Olympics, one of them with Sarabjot Singh in the mixed team event. Swapnil Kusale also won bronze in the 50m rifle three positions.
Who governs the sport
The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) sets the rules. In India, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) governs the sport.
