Pushkar, a small town near Ajmer in Rajasthan, is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in India. Every year in the Kartik month, it hosts the Pushkar fair, which combines a large camel and livestock fair with a religious festival that peaks on Kartik Purnima.
This article includes religious beliefs and traditions. Democratic Bharat Live does not claim to verify them.
The Brahma temple
Pushkar is famous for one of the very few temples in India dedicated to Lord Brahma, the creator in Hindu belief. According to legend, Brahma performed a yagna here. The present temple structure dates to the 14th century, according to most accounts, and has been renovated over time.

Pushkar lake
The holy Pushkar lake is surrounded by 52 ghats. Devotees believe a dip in the lake, especially on Kartik Purnima, washes away sins. Evening aartis at the ghats are a major attraction.
The camel fair
The livestock fair, especially for camels, is one of the largest in the world. Herders from across Rajasthan bring camels, horses and cattle for trade. Over the years, the fair has also become a major tourist event.

- Hot air balloon rides in some years
The schedule is announced by Rajasthan Tourism every year. Dates in social media posts should be treated as tentative until officially announced.
