The Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) is a 14 digit health ID issued under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), launched nationally in September 2021 and run by the National Health Authority (NHA). An ABHA lets you store, access and share your health records, such as prescriptions and lab reports, digitally with your consent.
Is ABHA the same as the Ayushman card
No. The Ayushman card is for free treatment under PM-JAY for eligible families. ABHA is a digital health ID that any Indian can create for free, whether or not they are eligible for PM-JAY.

How to create an ABHA card online
- Visit abha.abdm.gov.in or use an ABDM linked app such as the ABHA app or Aarogya Setu.
- Choose Create ABHA Number.
- Select Aadhaar, or Driving Licence where offered.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and verify with the OTP sent to your Aadhaar linked mobile.
- Confirm your details and create an ABHA address.
- Download your ABHA card.
If your mobile is not linked with Aadhaar, you can create an ABHA at a participating hospital or through other options shown on the portal.

Linking health records
Health facilities registered on ABDM can link your records to your ABHA. Through a Personal Health Record (PHR) app, you can view these records and grant or revoke consent for doctors to see them.
Privacy
ABDM follows a consent based system. Your data is not shared without your approval, and you can deactivate or delete your ABHA if you wish, as per the options on the portal.
